Roland has traveled several times to the leatherback beaches of Sorong in West Papua New Guinea to help with the relocation of some of the nests. The Pacific Leatherback turtle, the largest turtle in the world is critically endangered and through the efforts of Save Our Leatherbacks Operation (S.O.L.O.) has slowly been reversing their extinction. Roland has sculpted this scene in solid bronze capturing the hatchlings bursting from the sands and on their way to the ocean's abyss. Approximately 6" X 10" and comes numbered and mounted on an oak base. Some of the proceeds go to help S.O.L.O.
